The Contemporary Reader: romance novels

I'll be the first one to admit that I'm really not into these romance books simply because I'm really not the kind of person who appreciates these grand declarations of love, weird standards on men, lovestruck women and the like. I can't stand it when I read all the crazy things men and women in these little novels do. Honestly, I did try to read the "Sawyer" book and it reeked like a rotten piece of cheese.

But there's so many romance lovers out there, and I'm not one to judge their taste. I can't stand people judging other people by the books that they read. I just don't like these kind of romance novels for myself. I like a little romance, too. I'm a girl! But I don't want the saturated kind, sticky all over, gag-me gooey and sickeningly sweet.
Does anybody like these novels? Why? Does anybody dislike them like I do? Why so?
